3/13/2021 | Green Gables Open House After withstanding hurricanes, floods, and other storms for 123 years, this Forgotten Enchantress faces the storm of destruction for commercial gain. Will the small team of compassionate citizens save her in time? Why is saving Green Gables so Important? The acquisition and restoration of Green Gables is not just about preserving an old house from the wrecking ball. It is so much more. Green Gables is the 125 year old historic home of the Wells family, one of the generous benefactors who played a key role in the development of early Melbourne. Their vision and their generosity gifted the area with Wells Park and the first auditorium, the first library, establishing the first high school, and many more things in the community, all of which have been enjoyed by several generations. We do not want Green Gables to become a distant memory from the past or an archived post. She is still here, still standing, and is patiently waiting to be refurbished to her former glory. She will be a living history museum and community outreach center. There are millions of people who love history. Together we can restore Green Gables and save history. Please take time to go to greengables.org and watch the documentary “Forgotten Enchantress”. You, too, will be enchanted and understand why we are trying to raise funds for restoring this architectural beauty. more info... |

3/27/2021 | Murder at Turglas Abbey - Virtual Murder Mystery Join us virtually as Green Gables transforms into Turglas Abbey where murder and mayhem abide! Time to test your sleuthing skills! Lord Wellsford and his new bride are tragically killed in a carriage accident on the 3rd day of their honeymoon. Involved parties have been summoned to Turglas Abbey, his estate, for the reading of the will. Officials suspect foul play, as it was believed Lord Wellsford was drugged and that is what caused him to drive the carriage off the bluff. It was unknown if Lady Wellsford was also drugged as her body washed out to sea after hitting the jagged rocks off the bluff. Lord Wellsford’s barrister will preside over the reading of the will but feels that they should first share a drink and go through introductions. Before the reading can start, tragedy strikes – one of the guests is found murdered. Who could have killed this guest and why? How is this related to the murders of Lord and Lady Wellsford? Join us at Turglas Abbey to meet all the characters and see the action unfold. Follow them through all the rooms of the Victorian Queen Ann home and solve the mystery while staying safe and comfortable in your own home. Better still, host a socially distant dinner and invite family and friends to join you in solving the Murder at Turglas Abbey! more info... |
